Second project in the Google UX Design certificate program.
Project was created using Adobe XD software
Project created while working on Google’s UX Design professional certificate.
Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in America. I designed a support app for Diabetics in San Antonio, Texas, where the disease is 6% higher than the national average.
Compliance seems to be a major factor in why diabetics lose their battle against the disease. This app is designed for easy to use and has social component as a personal motivator that most do not.
It will also be translated into Spanish once design is finalized. Currently, there is only one other diabetes management app offered in Spanish. Sixty percent (60%) of the San Antonio population is Hispanic.
NOTE TO VIEWER: Type size on mobile app is intentional larger than normal to accommodate for vision issues associated with diabetes.

CREATIVE BRIEF
Create a mobile app that would make your life easier.
INSPIRATION
There are numerous apps already available which help parents find caregivers in their local area. I wanted to design an app for a more personal use--the neighborhood babysitter. Instead of having to repeat important information about the child's specific interests, diet and health concerns this app would store that information for the parent to share with the chosen sitter.
The approved sitters personal information, including a photograph, is easily accessible. This feature helps parents remember the sitters special talents and the photo could be used to show the child who will be coming over to care for him or her--easing any potential anxiety.
The app also helps the parent quickly calculate the sitter's fee.
PROCESS
I wanted a more intimate system to help parents organize and share personal information about their child and the sitter. My goal was to create an app that was not like the commercial caregiver websites that already exist. That type of caregiver system is open to anyone. My concept was to create a system that is small by nature and only open to those the User has invited. The calculator is another feature that helps makes a parent's night out stress-free.
CREATIVE BRIEF
Create a mobile app for a non-profit organization.
INSPIRATION
To provide a system where high school students at the local technical school could exchange business attire with fellow classmates. The school is a project- based environment where every project is presented with an oral and visual presentation. Business attire is mandatory, yet the school is in an economically challenged area.
The app allows students to upcycle business clothing among classmates. Also included, a feature which provides for students with special needs to request for a gift card (new shoes, hair cut or special size clothing). The strong support of the local high tech industry would ensure the success of the gift card segment of the project.
PROCESS
I want the students to have a positive experience shopping for business clothes like any other online store and not the negative experience most feel when shopping for used clothing. Create identity and branding with a clean, straightforward business look and feel. Once a student has selected a clothing item, a series of emails is generated to the buyer and supplier. Ideally, the student in need would pick the up donated business clothes in branded gift bag.
